These consumer protection updates reflect the agency’s continued focus on advertising claims, worker-compensation disclosures, and the accuracy of consumer reporting. The New York AI Synthetic Performers Disclosure Law, signed on December 11, 2025, creates an immediate compliance obligation for retailers, digital advertisers, and agencies, requiring conspicuous disclosure whenever a synthetic performer appears in a commercial advertisement distributed to New York consumers, with civil penalties of up to $5,000 per violation.
